Do you want to play a part in creating a better world? Join us as a Trustee!

Brief Trustees Job Description

DECSY exists to promote Global Learning: an approach to education that increases understanding of complex global issues, such as inequality, conflict, climate change, migration and different world views. Over its 40-year history, our small but dedicated staff team have worked with many primary and secondary schools across South Yorkshire, while also playing a key role in national and international initiatives. Current topics of focus include climate change, gender equality, and non-violent action.
Based in Sheffield, DECSY is looking for new Trustees to join its Executive Committee. We are looking for individuals who have skills and experience in one or both of the following: marketingfundraising and who support our aim of promoting education for a sustainable world. Previous board experience is not essential for the role as we will mentor new Trustees.

The Executive Committee currently meets six times a year, usually online but occasionally at DECSY’s office in Sheffield. The Trustees have responsibility for providing strategic direction and sound governance. These opportunities are non-remunerated Trustee posts.

DECSY is committed to equal opportunities and the promotion of diversity and inclusion, and are seeking to enhance the diversity of our Executive Committee. Therefore, while we welcome all applications from interested and suitably experienced people, we would particularly welcome applicants from UK Minority Ethnic Backgrounds.

DECSY is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, no: 1153377. Please see www.decsy.org.uk for further information about our work.
