DECSY has created primary and secondary lesson plans and teaching resources; stimulating cross-curricular learning activities, including Philosophy for Children (P4C), related to the photographs, that can be used to support pupil understanding of life in a diverse, modern Britain and the ‘British Values’ of mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
Gender Action is an award programme which promotes and supports a whole-school approach to challenging stereotypes. Tiered progression levels put gender equality at the heart of policy and practice, recognising those striving to ensure there are no limits on young people reaching their full potential. P4C and Gender Equality

Helen is the author of ‘Gender Equality in Primary Schools: a guide for teachers, a hands-on guide that supports teachers and school staff in challenging gender stereotypes and sets out advice on how to implement gender equality and respect in the curriculum, and in all areas of school life.
