DECSY’s Sustainability Statement

DECSY promotes Global Learning, an educational approach that increases understanding of complex global issues, such as inequality, conflict, climate change, migration and different world views. We recognise that our activities have an impact on the environment and aim to minimise our resource-use and move towards environmentally sustainable working practices. We operate an environmental management system to minimise impact, ensure legislative compliance and prevent pollution. We aim to question current practice at regular intervals to ensure that we try to arrive at the most sustainable solutions.

Our underpinning principles are: rethink, reduce, reuse, recycle, buy sustainably, promote sustainable travel.

Our Sustainability Policy (available to download here) provides the guiding framework and action plan. It forms an important element in induction of new staff, volunteers and trustees.

Our Resource Centre is based in an Ethical Property Company managed building and we aim to comply fully with the Ethical Property Company’s Code of Practice https://www.ethicalproperty.co.uk/news-event-projects/news/sustainability-strategy-our-pathway-net-zero
