Secondary School teachers: Thursday 16th March 2023, 1pm – 4pm

Course Overview:
An Introduction to Teaching Topical, Controversial and Sensitive Issues (e.g. eco-anxiety, war, racism, discrimination)

Discuss the potential challenges and opportunities of addressing topical, controversial and sensitive issues in the classroom.
Explore methds for positive engagement that address issues of mental health and wellbeing
Examine existing guidance on teaching controversial issues.
Engage with and share critical thinking techniques for tackling controversial issues in the classroom.

This is a taster for longer whole-school training that DECSY can provide.
