Southern Artists for Development

The Southern Artists for Development service uses the affective power of experienced artist / educators from countries of the 'South' (Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean), supported by quality resources to:

  • Celebrate the diversity and complexity of other cultures
  • Challenge negative preconceptions about people from nations of the 'South'
  • Raise understanding about world development issues such as the causes and consequences of global injustice, the importance of alleviating poverty and promoting sustainable development
  • Encourage a greater commitment to global citizenship in the school community

Artists can be booked to run workshops. The cost is £190 for a full day, plus travel expenses. Contact us for more information or to make a booking.

Timanyane coverThe DEC(SY) publication 'Timanyane - Making the most of school visits by artists from Africa and around the world' provides practical guidance, activities, curriculum links and a directory of Southern artists.
