“ “I can whole heartedly recommend this resource. It provides many interesting exercises for pupils and teachers to examine the historical significance of the Slave Trade and manages to make this all the more vivid by linking it to people and events connected to Sheffield. I hope it is used in all our Primary and Secondary Schools.” "I've seen elements of the resource in action with local school children and I thought it was excellent. The children were dynamic and innovative in engaging with this material. If used effectively it will enhance school's community cohesion ethos." "Equiano is a fabulous resource to use with children. It is packed with fascinating and clearly set out actual historical resources that capture interest and motivate us to consider the plight of slaves in a heartfelt way. There is plenty of material that can be used across the curriculum supporting development of skills in history, geography, literacy, maths, RE. The texts provide good material for use in Philosophy4Children. Above all, it is an excellent 'thinking' and debate tool and an essential resource to raise awareness about the origins of the slave trade, and pertinently in the local context. Having used this on a 'Citizenship' day, our Y6 children readily engaged in the great variety of activities on offer learning whilst actively 'enquiring'." |
