But when you get there you are told you are a scrounger – you’re bogus – and you deserve to be beaten up. Welcome to Britain.

‘Moving Here’ is a programme of engaging Citizenship, PSHE and English activities for Year 6 - Year 13 pupils which includes participation in an exciting, interactive exhibition about refugees and asylum seekers.

The National Curriculum-linked activities contained in this book are designed to help pupils learn about:

• identity,

• rights,

• exclusion,

• prejudice,

• migration,

as a prelude to a series of activities (including visiting the exhibition) which aim to build understanding and empathy with refugees and asylum seekers. The final sections of the book help pupils explore options and choices for taking action and provide a wide range of references to web sites and printed materials for further work.
