EU Comenius project with Portugal
DECSY is working with teachers in Portugal on an EU-funded project called 'Inclusion for All: Education, Pluralism and Achievement.' The aim of the project is to compare approaches to working with multi-ethnic populations and develop teachers' awareness, knowledge and skills in working with migrant heritage children.
In February 2013 DECSY and Sheffield City Council hosted a visit from 13 school directors, teachers and local authority officers from Amadora, near Lisbon as part of the project. We are extremely grateful to Owler Brook, Watercliffe Meadow, Pye Bank, Newfield and Talbot Schools and Sheffield College for their part in the programme.
The visitors said: 'We couldn't stop talking about the wonderful experience and the many inputs and ideas developed throughout the visit. We would like to thank you for organising such interesting visits to schools and for your tireless support throughout our stay!' 'This visit was unforgettable.'
We look forward to the return visit of Sheffield teachers in late May.
