Discussion
From the available data the following trends can be identified:
56% of pupils saw their scores decrease from the beginning to the end of the project.
It can be argued that a drop of more than 30 in the score represents a significant
shift in behaviour. Under these criteria 37.5% of pupils showed a decrease.
Limitations
-
Feedback from teachers indicated that when footprint scores were revisited
children began to think lower scores were ‘right’ and this
may well have influenced results
- Between classes there were some inconsistencies with large
variations between the initial and revisited score
-
More generally the scoring categories were often not directly under the influence of
the child (e.g. choices of transport, holidays and so on), and any change detected
has to be seen in this context
